Interoperability of numerical sources via IIIF

Frank Dührkohp - Head Office of the Common Library Network (Germany)

Presentation type: Lightning talk

Abstract:

To summarize, the project KENOM offers an integrative overall concept for the establishment of a collection-overlapping virtual coin cabinet for all numismatic branches and various specialties of various non-European cultural areas. The aim of the service is to significantly increase the digital presence of scientifically prepared numismatic sources and to permanently secure the development of numerous other collections by providing appropriate tools. In order to guarantee an international network, the objects are captured on the basis of national and international data sources. KENOM includes the norms vocabulary “Coinage of the Roman Republic Online (CRRO)” and “Online Coins of the Roman Empire (OCRE)” of the American Numismatic Society (ANS). On the basis of this networking, the data from KENOM can also be displayed on the ANS portals. The display of the coin images via those portals are transferred via the IIIF framework. The lightningtalk gives an overview of the current and future state of development.
